ILTC Sparkle Ugly Christmas Sweater- Star Trek Style

Hey guys, today I’m super excited to be a part of I Love to Create’s “Sparkle Ugly Sweater” campaign! If you’ve been invited to an Ugly Christmas Sweater party this year, you can find some awesome Holiday Inspiration here.
All you need is a thrift store sweater and some of the fantastic products from Tulip. My personal favorite is their iron-on glitter sheets! I love those!
*I wrote this post as part of a paid campaign with I Love to Create and Blueprint Social;
they sent me the products for free and I was paid for writing this post.*

ILTC sent me a fantastic group of products, like fabric paints and glitter iron on sheets, to restyle a sweater with. But I am such a nerd. I couldn’t make just a Christmas sweater, mine is a Star Trek Christmas Sweater, which is very logical, right?

If you’re a trekkie, like me, Here’s how to make your own sparkly Spock ugly Christmas sweater!
Supplies: Thrifted Sweater, Fabric Paint, Dimensional Glitter Fabric Paint, Glitter Bond, Fashion Glitter, Iron-on Transfer Glitter Sheets, Coloring Page, Scissors, Paintbrush

1. I started by finding a coloring page or drawing of spock (or the person you want to paint on your sweater). Cut out around it.

2. Next I cut the coloring page up, so that I was just using his shirt. I placed it on my sweater and drew around it with Tulip’s Dimensional Glitter Fabric Paint. After that, I removed the shirt template and filled in the area with my glitter fabric paint.

3. Next you’ll want to repeat step 2 with his head- Cut off the collar and hair and place the head where it should go. Trace around it, this time with Tulip’s Fabric Paint ( I mixed a little white and gold together) and then fill the area in.

4. Repeat the same step with the collar and hair, only this time using black fabric paint.

5. For the face, I honestly just free handed Spocks face with a tiny paint brush and Tulip’s Fabric Paint. You could cut up the face template further and use it as a template if you needed to.
I also outlined the rest of him with the black paint.

6. Use Glitter Bond and Gold Fashion Glitter to put the starfleet logo on Spocks shirt.

7. Now Spock needs a santa hat! Sketch one out on the backside of a red Iron On Glitter Transfer Sheet and cut it out. Iron it down, following the directions.

8. Use Glitter Bond and White Fashion Glitter to add on the “fur” of the Santa hat.

9. To finish off my sweater, I added my saying, Trek the Halls, with some of the Iron On Glitter Transfer Sheets. I actually cut them out on my Silhouette Portrait machine.

I don’t think I’m going to an ugly Christmas sweater party this year, but I still think this is an amazing sweater & a fun project to do!

Ombre Swirl Tshirt DIY with ILTC Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye

Hey guys! Today’s project is a fun one. When I think of tie dye I automatically think “Summer!”. They just go together! So, I am thrilled to be a part of the ILTC Tie Dye Your Summer campaign. For my post I created this fun, swirl tie dye shirt!
I used Tulips One-Step Tie Dye, which is America’s Favorite Tie Dye! The one-step tie dye is perfect for creating bright multi-color projects! The dyes are permanent and color-fast, so they won’t fade in the wash. They are amazing for creating Tie Dye Fashion!

The spiral is a classic tie dye pattern, but to give it an ombre look you will want 2 dyes of the same color, just different shades. I used blue and turquoise.

Supplies: White T-shirt, Tulip One-Step Dye, Rubber Bands, Plastic Wrap, Protected Surface, Hose

1. Pinch the middle of your shirt. This is where the center of your swirl is going to be, so it can be in the middle of you could put it off to the side. Whatever you like best! i went for the middle.

2. Twist until all fabric is in a spiral shape and use 4 rubber bands to secure the spiral, overlapping them so that you have little “pie wedges” to fill in with color.

3. Wet your spiral down. This helps the colors to bleed into each other a little, which gives it more of an ombre look.

4. Starting with your darkest color, fill in 2 “pie wedges” that are opposite of each other. Make sure to get it in the folds nicely to have a good, colored shirt. This will prevent it from having too much white. Flip spiraled fabric over and repeat on backside

5. Take your lighter color and fill in the wedges on either side of your dark colored wedges.

I’m messy, so I got a bit of color in the 2 last wedges a swell, but it’s not really a problem if you get a little there.

6. Now that you’ve got 2 dark wedges, 4 medium colored wedges and 2 white(ish) wedges, you want to take the water hose and wet it down again. I mostly just hit the medium color with the water so that it would bleed lightly into the 2 white wedges.

7. Wrap your shirt in plastic wrap to keep it moist and let it sit for 6-8 hours to let the dye set.
8. After you’ve let it sit, you can take it out of the plastic wrap, rinse the dye out and then wash it in hot water.

ILTC Tulip DIY Decor

Today’s project uses the stylish new Tulip for your Home line.
Created with the cost-conscious, trend-savvy DIYer in mind, this line of premium products makes it outrageously easy and super affordable to create stunning home décor looks you’ll swoon over. Make what’s old new again and what’s new downright fabulous with gorgeous pops of color and trend-right designs from Tulip® For Your Home!
When I received my box from Tulip, I opened it immediately and and was thrilled to find all of these goodies below! The stencils I received are just lovely, I especially like the chevrons.
What is awesome is that these stencils are reusable, so I can use them again and again on different projects (multiple chevron projects!).

Supplies: Textile Stencils, Stencil Spray Adhesive, Pillow Cover, Soft Matte Fabric Paint, Paint Roller, Pillow Cover, Freezer Paper, Paper Plate.

1. Put a piece of freezer paper in your pillow case so that the paint cannot bleed through to the other side.
2. On the backside of your stencil, spray a light coat of the stencil spray adhesive onto your large stencil. Press it down onto the front of your pillow cover.

3. Squirt some of your fabric paint onto a paper plate (using it as a palette) and load up your paint roller. Roll over your large stencil, working the paint into the design.

4. Peel off your stencil and let it dry completely.

5. Use the spray adhesive to stick your next stencil down in place. Choose a contrasting color to paint your second stencil.

6. Remove your stencil and let your design dry completely.

The stencil spray adhesive didn’t leave any residue on the pillow, which is awesome. A lot of spray adhesives I’ve used leave a sticky residue on everything.
I’m also impressed with the fact that the edges of the design came out pretty crisp (no paint bleed!). I think this is thanks to the stencil spray.
