Hazel and Ruby + Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Blog…

I love both Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft and Hazel and Ruby, so I’m super excited to be doing a blog swap between the two. I hope you enjoy the blog swap and get inspired to grab some gelatos and masks!

I wanted to show you how I created this textured title on my scrapbook layout. To get the full tutorial, hop on over to the Hazel and Ruby blog!

Gelatos are definitely one of my most favorite mediums to work with, and combining them with Hazel and Ruby’s masks was pretty much a no brainer. They work so well together!

WaterColor Wreath + Design Memory Craft Giveaway

My last project as a Design Memory Craft Guest Design is at the end of this month. I’m really going to miss designing for them! If you know of any recent design team calls for manufacturers please let me know.

Here’s a roundup of all the projects I’ve done for Design Memory Craft- (excluding the 2 projects I have coming up later this month.)

  1. St. Patricks Day Inspiration Spool DIY
  2. Colored Fabric with Gelatos DIY
  3. Spring Mixed Media DIY
  4. Bunny Garden Plant Markers
  5. Create a Colorful Scrapbook Background DIY
  6. Designing Fabric with Paper Crafter Crayons DIY
  7. Restyled Flower Pot (Coming Soon)
Today I wanted to share this wreath I made and embellished using Design Memory Craft aquarelle pencils-

I didn’t actually have a wreath, so I made one using a pool noodle leftover from last summer. (I figured I’d just get a new noodle for this summer.)

To make my main embellishment, I heat embossed the “enjoy the little things” and then I colored colored over it with my Aquarelle watercolor pencils. Added a little stitching, ribbon and then made my other embellishments to match.

I love my watercolor pencils. I’m more of a doodler than a painter, so I can draw, add a little water, and it looks painted. love.

Irish Proverb Spool

I created this spool for the Design Memory Craft blog, I used their gelatos and aquarelles to color the fabric I wrapped around it and their PITT pens to write my quote.
Get the tutorial and a full supply list on the Design Memory Craft site.
I found this Irish Proveb on google: “May your blessings outnumber the shamrocks that grow and may trouble avoid you wherever you go.”
What do you recycle spools into? I love turning them into mini albums/quote spools.

Gelatos Heat Embossed Resist Technique

Being on the Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft guest design team means that I get their products to use, (and who doesn’t love free goodies?!) and I’ve been wanting to try this technique for a while, which I saw on their blog.
What you do is you heat emboss your paper, smear gelatos all over it and the heat embossed images will resist the gelatos. It’s pretty neat, I created a tag and placed it on this card.

Supplies: Gelatos, Stamps, Embossing Ink, Heat Gun, Paper
1. Heat emboss your paper. I used a stamp by My Minds Eye.
 2. Cover your paper with gelatos.
3. Use your finger to smooth it out. A cool thing about the Gelatos is that you can use them dry or also take a wet paintbrush to them and they become more of a water color. If you only want to slightly dampen them you can use a baby wipe to blend them.
Here’s another card I made with this technique. I heat embossed the chevrons and went over them with blue and metallic mint gelatos.
For anyone who hasn’t heard of Gelatos, They are made by Faber-Castell and are Acid Free Pigment Sticks, that are super creamy and the colors are very vibrant. They remind me of chapstick, but the colors are very rich and they go on creamy which I imagine is why they’re called gelatos. 😉
