DIY Decoupage Resist Background

Hey guys!  Today is my last post as part of the Helmar design team and I wanted to show you guys the technique I used to make the background of this art journal page.
I started by taking a piece of patterned paper and painting circles on it using Decoupage and Craft Paste
Once the Decoupage and Craft Paste was dry, I scribbled over it in a couple of different shades of Design Memory Craft Gelatos and then sprayed them with water and spread the color around.

The  Decoupage and Craft Paste will act as a resist to the gelatos, so just take a paper towel or baby wipe and wipe the color off of the area that you painted the  Decoupage and Craft Pasteon.

I finished off my page by adding the girl transparency, adhering her down with a little bit of Helmar Craft Glue. I also sealed the page with Crystal Kote Gloss Varnish Spray.
Have you tried this technique? It’s one of the many ways to resist!

DIY Foiled Tag

Hey guys, Today I wanted to share this tag and card with you that I shared on the Helmar blog. I made the tag using Helmar’s QuickFix Adhesive Runner and some transfer foil.
When I was at the CHA show in California earlier this year, I noticed that foiling was all the rage! I’m loving this trend, I think foil is super cool. If you are too, here’s how you can get the foiled look!
Start by using your Quickfix Adhesive Runner to create a pattern on your tag. I did stripes.
Next, take a piece of transfer foil and place it down on top of your sticky adhesive. Rub it down and then peel it off. The only places that the foiled should stick to would be the adhesive tape stripes.
I decided to use my tag on a card, so I used my Quickfix Adhesive Runner to attach it as well as the other small paper embellishments. For my chipboard hearts, I grabbed my 450 Quick Dry Adhesive and placed a dot of glue on the back.
This is a pretty easy way to get the gold foil look, right?
Have you done any foil transfers? What’s your favorite method?

{Thankful} Art Journal Page

Today I’m up on the Helmar blog sharing this art journal page I created recently! If you want to read about what supplies I used and how I got those textured leaves, hop on over to Hemlar’s blog.
(I think the photo above would make such a neat phone background!)
I love how this journal page came out, and it came together pretty quick too! I wrote down some things I’m thankful for in the black circle. I love how the black really makes my journaling stand out.
What are some things you’re thankful for?

Quilt Block Cards on Helmar

Today I am on the Helmar blog sharing these cute cards I made using Helmars fabric glue.
My Mom is a quilter and every once in a while she’ll have extra “scrap” blocks that she’ll give to me. That is what these 2 blocks were, just extra blocks waiting to be used. I thought they would be adorable on cards, so I used Helmars fabric glue to adhere the blocks onto the card fronts and then finished them off with scrapbooking embellishments.

Hop on over to Helmar to read my post and to see how I made them!

Favorite Vegetables Layout

Today I’m on the Helmar blog sharing this layout I scrapped about my favorite garden vegetables.
My 2 favorite vegetables (ever!) are cucumbers and banana peppers. I love being able to grow them in my backyard since you can’t buy sweet banana peppers at the store and cucumbers are always better from the garden.
For my layout I dug out my stash of Helmar Zapdots to make my veggie diecuts pop up. (Thanks, Heather, for the diecuts!)

Hop on over to the Helmar blog to read more about my layout!
