I’m a 90’s kid, and last month I went crazy restyling all of my school supplies with a Lisa Frank theme. It was amazing.  My supplies are now extremely cool, I’m reliving my childhood and it’s great.
I wanted to round up all of my projects into one post, so if you also want to rock the Lisa Frank style, you can learn how using my DIY’s.

  • Cheetah Print Folders
  • Lisa Frank inspired Forever Pencil Bag
  • Lisa Frank inspired Supply Tins

These were so much fun to make. Any other 90’s kids out there? Or anyone who loves Lisa Frank art as much as I do?

DIY Lisa Frank Zipper Coin Pouch

This is a project in my Back-to-School Lisa Frank series! So far I have made notebooks, folders, a pencil bag, supply tins and more. You could say that I am having a bit of fun!

Today I wanted to show you how I stitched up my own zipper coin pouch! For a fun finish, I also printed out one of my favorite Lisa Frank characters to add on.

Supplies:

  • Canvas or muslin fabric
  • 1 zipper (I used hot pink, but obviously any color works. Just make sure it is as long as you intend to make your bag.)
  • Printer
  • Scissors
  • Decoupage Adhesive
  • Paintbrush
  • Plate/bowl

1. Start off by cutting out the fabric for your bag! I chose a half circle shape for my bag, rather than a normal rectangle bag.
I cut out 2 7″x7″ squares of muslin fabric and used a plate as a template to give the bottom a rounded edge.

2. Next you’ll need to sew in the zipper! If you’re unfamiliar with zippers, here is a really helpful tutorial for making a zipper pouch.

I didn’t add a lining fabric into this pouch, but it wouldn’t be hard to do following the tutorial linked above.

3. Fold your zipper pouch in half, wrong side out, making sure to leave the zipper halfway open.

Stitch along the outside edge with a 1/4″ seam allowance.

4. Clip the curves and flip right side out through the zipper opening.

5. Print out your favorite cartoon character, clip art, design onto paper.

6. Slip a scrap of cardboard into the pouch (so the glue doesn’t seep into the back fabric) and brush a decoupage adhesive onto the back of your paper clipart.

7. Adhere your design onto the zipper pouch, brushing over the front as well and allow to dry.

I loved the Lisa Frank “Peekaboo” Turtle when I was a kid, so I kinda love having a zippered bag inspired by that! I am such a 90’s kid!

What character or design would you put on a bag??

DIY Lisa Frank Pencils

This is a project in my Back-to-School Lisa Frank series!

I have so so so many pencils in my supply stash, a few of them are cute, pink, patterned or something, but a lot of them are boring, plain #2 yellow pencils. So, I restyled a few of them and they are now officially WAY cooler. Like, 90’s kid cool.

I used a bit of acrylic paint in bright colors + black to make these Lisa Frank pattern inspired pencils.

Supplies:
Pencils
Acrylic Paint
#4 Paint Brush
#1 Paint Brush
Gloss Decoupage Medium
Masking or Washi Tape

1. Start by using a bit of tape to tape of the metal part of your pencils so that you don’t paint over it. If you paint over the pointed wood end, you can easily sharpen the pencil.

2. Paint the pencils with bright, happy colors! Pinks, Aquas, Purple, Oranges and Yellows are good choices.
It’s helpful to stand them up in a tin, to let them dry.

3. Use a tiny, #1 paint brush to paint on cheetah print and polka dots using black or white acrylic paint.

I use pencils a lot, every day. I can’t stand mechanical pencils though, they squeak. Anyone else have that issue?

DIY Lisa Frank Clipboard

This is a project in my Back-to-School Lisa Frank series!

Today I’ve got another fun, fabulous back-to-school project to share with you guys! I’ve been having WAY to much restyling all of my office supplies with rainbow cheetah print and some of my favorite characters.

I used a Lisa Frank Coloring Book page on this clipboard to add Painter Panda, my next favorite character after Spotty and Dotty!

Supplies:
Blank Old Clipboard
Acrylic Paints
Paint Brush
Deacoupage Medium
Scissors
Lisa Frank Coloring Book

1. Start by giving that old clipboard a bright and happy makeover! Tape off the metal clip and paint the board. I used 2 shades of aqua acrylic paint for an ombre look. Let it dry.

2. Choose your favorite coloring book page character and cut him out. Use a decoupage medium to adhere it onto the clipboard.

3. You can color in your character if you want, but I chose to leave Painter Panda black and white, but to give him a rainbow coming from his paintbrush and also added a few doodle stars around him! Fun!

Easy, right?

Did you love Painter Panda too?? Have you seen this Painter Panda Halloween Costume by Studio DIY yet? I love it!

DIY Lisa Frank Supply Tins

This is a project in my Back-to-School Lisa Frank series!

This craft includes 3 of my favorite things- Lisa Frank, School Supplies, and Recycled Pirouline Tins! I’ve got these sitting in the top shelf of my IKEA Raskog cart holding paint brushes and pencils.

I did a few different tins. One of them I made the classic “Lisa Frank Cheetah Print”, just by using a bit of acrylic paint. For the other 2 tins I printed out some graphics of my favorite LF characters- Spotty & Dotty the dogs and the Aliens. I love those guys.

Supplies:

  • Empty Tins
  • Acrylic Paints
  • Paint Brushes
  • Decoupage Medium
  • Printed Designs

For the rainbow cheetah print tin, paint rainbow acrylic stripes around the tin. You’ll need a couple of coats to completely covered the printed tin.

Once the rainbow tin is dry, take either a bit of white paint or black paint and paint on a cheetah print pattern- squiggly circles!

To make the character tins, paint the tins a solid color. Print out the characters you want and decoupage them onto the fronts of the tins.
Other LF characters I think would make cute tins- The Dolphins, Space Unicorn, Painter Panda! There are just so many option!

What characters are your favorite?

DIY Lisa Frank Forever Pencil Bag

This is a project in my Back-to-School Lisa Frank series!

Lisa Frank Foreverrrr! If you’re also on #TeamLisaFrank, then you’ll love this pencil bag!

I restyled a plain clear zipper bag by cutting out letters from vinyl- super easy! Even easier if you have a die cut machine (I used my Brother ScanNCut), but you can also cut them by hand it will just take a teeny bit longer.

Supplies:

  • Plastic Pencil Bag
  • Vinyl in Rainbow Colors
  • Die Cut Machine OR Letter Stencil, Marker, and Scissors

I actually had every color of the rainbow in vinyl EXCEPT for orange, so I just used a permanent orange marker to color some yellow vinyl orange.

This project literally only has 2 steps.

1. Cut out the letters “Lisa Frank Forever” in rainbow colors. You can mix them up if you want, but I put them in the order of the rainbow, starting with red.

2. Peel the vinyl letters off of their backing and stick down onto the plastic pencil bag. You can use a ruler to help make sure you get them in a straight line.

See? I told you it was EASY! And I just proved that you can share your love for Lisa Frank without putting cheetah print on everything. Oh wait, I’m doing that too. 😉

If you love this, please share (facebook, twitter, pin) the 90’s kid love and I’d love to see your version! Feel free to send me a picture!

DIY Lisa Frank Cheetah Print Folders

This is a project in my Back-to-School Lisa Frank series!
What have I been doing lately? “Lisa Franking” ALL THE THINGS! I’m obsessed, but it’s okay, because I’m making all of my school supplies way cute.
Last week I shared 3 DIY Lisa Frank inspired notebooks and today I am sharing these Cheetah Print File Folders! They started out as solid, boring file folders and turned into magical cheetah folders!

2. Next squirt your rainbow paints onto a palette, and paint each stripe a different color, going in order of the rainbow.

While the paint is still wet, use a clean brush to lightly blend the edges of each color into each other so they’re gradient.

3. Once the rainbow is dry, use a #2 paint brush and either black or white paint to paint on cheetah print!

This may look tough, but they’re really just circular squiggles! I promise it’s not hard, just paint on little lumpy circles with a dot in the middle here and there as shown below.

Do you prefer the black or white print? I think I actually prefer white.
