Scrapbook Summer *4th of July style!*

With tomorrow being the 4th of July, I wanted to do a special scrapbook summer post! So, enjoy–
On this layout I made “fireworks” using mists! here’s a fun DIY to show you how..
Supplies: scrap paper, craft knife, mists, misc scrapbooking embellishments
1. Start by cutting out a firework stencil. This is easy enough since it’s really just abunch of ‘teardrop’ shapes in a circle.

2. Lay your stencil onto your background paper and spray your mist over it. (You could also water down some paint and use a spray bottle if you don’t have any mists)
3.Try using different colors!
I also decided to embellish my fireworks by adding a bit of bling to the middle..
BTW, you can also make your own scrapbooking mists- there are alot of tutorials out there, Just google it!

Scrapbook Summer- Creating a Fabric Pennant Border

I don’t know about you, but I like to find different ways to add fabric to my layouts. Here’s a fun idea on how to use fabric to make a fun pennant border.
Supplies:
Fabric, Paper, Pictures, Sewing Machine
1. Cut your fabric into triangles, and layer them onto your layout.
2. Sew a few lines across the top so that they are stuck down. This also gives them more texture. 🙂
voila! xo, Katie
p.s. (enjoying scrapbook summer? I’d love to know what you think, or if you are scrapbooking this summer!)

Scissors
1. Color sections of your mosaics.
2. Cut them out.
3. Use them to embellish you layout! I used some at the top of my photo as a border and a few around my picture and title.

Scrapbook Summer- Using Mosaic Coloring pages

Good Morning, I hope you guys are enjoying my new blog feature Scrapbook Summer! I had alot of fun coming up with these posts.. 🙂
Here’s a fun new technique I came up with- You know those coloring books that are like mosaics? Try using them on your layouts!
Supplies:
Mosaic Coloring Book
Colored Pencils/markers/etc
1. Color your mosaic. You don’t have to color it all- I think leaving it black and white looks really neat too.
2. Place it on your layout! I used it to go behind my picture and embellishments so that they stand out more.

Scrapbook Summer- Altering a picture using fabric

Taylor (my lovely sister) came up with this fun idea- Altering your pictures using fabric..
Tools and Supplies:
Picture
Paper
Lightbox or you can just use a window
Fabric
Glue stick
Sewing Machine (optional)
1. Put your picture either on a lightbox or tape it to a window.
Lay a sheet of white paper of tracing paper ontop and trace the area you want to cover with fabric.
(Covering clothes with fabric is a fun technique)
2. Cut out your shapes and make sure they fit..
3. Now using your paper cutouts as a pattern, Cut out your shapes in fabric.
4. Now you can either glue them on, Or add more texture by sewing them on.
Taylor did that layout, But I wanted to play around with this technique too. Here’s my layout:
What do you think? Do you like to add fabric to you layouts/pictures?

Scrapbook Summer- Recycled Book Page Background

For the first layout of the summer I wanted to show you guys a cool technique I like– Using book pages as a background.
Supplies:
a 12 x 12 piece of paper (I used one that wasn’t my favorite, I probably wounldnt have used it.)
Old Book Pages
Watercolor Paint (optionial)
1. Grab a few old book page and your paper.
2. Layer them onto your 12 x 12 paper. If they are sticking off the edges, be sure to trim them up.
I wanted mine to be colored, So I used some watercolors to do that.
As you can see.. I used pages from star trek novels. Ha, I’m geek. 🙂
