A Mark Making Art Journal Zine

I had so much fun working on this zine! It’s full of bright, happy colors, and fun, abstract marks.
As you might know, I’m a member of the Zine Squad. We make collaborative zines for and around people and subjects that inspire us!  I love doing these- It’s fun to have a miniature art journal done in one theme. You can see all the past zines I’ve collaborated on here.

This time the zine squad (Julia, Vanessa, and I) collaborated with Molly for a “Mark Making” themed zine for Divyam!

Above is the cover and below are the pages I worked on in the zine.

I did the “Make your mark” page on the right. I love this creative word washi tape, and I brushed on some watercolor brushstrokes.

My double page spread above, and my little take on Starry Night. Because if I’m doing a zine on mark making, there has to be something about Van Gogh, right?

I did some zentangles & a mini galaxy above.

I also did the end page next to the sign off, so I wanted to draw a mini portrait of Divyam in her happy cartoon style. I made the background with a bunch of simple marker strokes using Tombow Dual Brush Pens.

I’m only sharing the pages I worked on here, so I highly encourage you guys to go visit the other contributors (linked at the top of this post) and see the rest of this beautiful zine!

A Crystal Art Journal Zine

Today’s post rocks. 😉  As you might know, I’m a member of the Zine Squad. We make collaborative zines for and around people and subjects that inspire us!  I love doing these- It’s fun to have a miniature art journal done in one theme. You can see all the past zines I’ve collaborated on here.

This time the zine squad (Julia, Vanessa, and I) collaborated with Becka for a Crystal themed zine for Elly!

I started the zine, so I painted the crystal on the cover above, and then someone else added the title. 🙂

My page on the right above. I also painted the bottom triangle on the left, and I love the other triangles that Vanessa added. Oh, I also added the washi tape tabs, because I had these shiny tapes that I just had to use!

My double page spread, the flap opens up!

For my page on the right above, I used Prima Metallic Watercolors for the crystals, so they shimmer like crazy in the right lighting!

And the last sign off page above. I added the little owl sticker, which it and the crystal ball sticker I added on my double page spread are both by Gracemere Woods, and while neither are necessarily crystals I thought they fit nicely. 🙂

I’m only sharing the pages I worked on here, so I highly encourage you guys to go visit everyone’s blogs and see the rest of this beautiful zine!

A Fungi Art Journal Zine

Ooooh, aren’t you a fun-guy? 😉 Today’s post is a fun one! As you might know, I’m a member of the Zine Squad. We make collaborative zines for and around people and subjects that inspire us!  I love doing these- It’s fun to have a miniature art journal done in one theme. You can see all the past zines I’ve collaborated on here.

This time the zine squad (Julia, Vanessa, and I) collaborated with Alicia for a Fungi themed zine for Moriah!

Living in the pacific-northwest, I have come to know a good bit about mushroom in the past few years, so I had a lot of fun with this zine. Fun fact: I was actually actually a member of the Puget Sound Mycological Society last year. And I don’t even eat mushrooms. (My Dad does, and I go foraging with him.)
I started the zine this time around, so I wanted to share what the zine looked like when it left my hands, and then what it looks like completed.

When the zine left me:

And the completed zine:

I love the echo lines that Jules (?) added around my mushroom fairy.
I’m only sharing the pages I worked on here, so I highly encourage you guys to go visit everyone’s blogs and see the rest of the zine!

A Kindness Art Journal Zine

It’s been a while since we’ve had a zine to share with y’all, so I’m happy to be posting this today!
As you might know, I’m a member of the Zine Squad. We make collaborative zines for and around people and subjects that inspire us!  I love doing these- It’s fun to have a miniature art journal done in one theme. You can see all the past zines I’ve collaborated on here.
This time the zine squad (Julia, Vanessa, and I) collaborated with Serena for a Kindness themed zine for Molly! This was a really sweet one to put together, and this zine got to Molly at such a perfect time to cheer her up.
The cover above was a collaborative effort. I added a lot of the white collage, and then stenciled the heart hands on top. Below are the pages I created in the zine.

The girl on the right below is mine. The rest of the spread is by my fellow ziners!

Left page below is mine, I used a photo I took on a beach trip.

I love collaborating on art journals like this! I highly encourage you guys to go visit their blogs (linked at the top) and see the rest of the zine, because the rest of the pages are amazing!

A Cityscape Art Journal Zine

I’m a member of the Zine Squad, We make collaborative zines for and around people and subjects that inspire us!  I love doing these- It’s fun to have a miniature art journal done in one theme. You can see all the past zines I’ve collaborated on here.

This time the zine squad (Julia, Vanessa and I) collaborated with Kelli for a Cityscape themed zine! I thought the theme for this one was really neat!
The fun multi colored firework stamps were already on the left page above, I added the hand/cityscape to it.

I added the map flap into this journal, and used some of my stamp stash I’ve collected on it.

My page on the opposite side of the flap. The circles are actually foil, although it’s hard to take a photo of.

My galaxy page on the left. I add a galaxy into nearly every collab I do.

I love collaborating on art journals like this! I highly encourage you guys to go visit their blogs and see the rest of the zine, because the rest of the pages are amazing!

An Elements Art Journal Zine

I’m a member of the Zine Squad, We make collaborative zines for and around people and subjects that inspire us!  I love doing these- It’s fun to have a miniature art journal done in one theme. You can see all the past zines I’ve collaborated on here.

This time the zine squad (Julia, Vanessa and I) collaborated with Divyam for an Elements themed zine! I love how this one turned out.

The cover. I added the ferns, and a few of the swirly flames.

My page spread with my fire girl.I tried to make her look like she is a glowing ember. Think it worked?

I added the image & the art on the right page flap above. I think the rest of the page is by Vanessa.

I loved Jules Pocahontas page on the right, so I used more of the lyrics on my collage on the left.

The only thing I added to the page above was the round sticker by Elly Mack.

My galaxy/wave page on the left above.

I simply added a couple of crystals to Divyam’s page above on the right.

I added a mountain collage to the left page and worked on top of the gelli print on the right page.

The plant/vine is another fun sticker by Elly.

My last page + the sign off page. I really love how my Anemoi (wind gods) page turned out.

The wolf sticker I added to the sign off page is by GraceMereWoods. Apparently I was all about the stickers in this zine!

I love collaborating on art journals like this! I highly encourage you guys to go visit their blogs and see the rest of the zine, because the rest of the pages are amazing!

A Coloring Art Journal Zine

The zine squad (Julia, Vanessa and I) collaborated with Ammie for a Coloring zine for our friend Jen.

The cover. ^ I started this zine, so I added the black and white patterned papers to the front cover.

We’ve never done a coloring zine before, and as someone who likes to draw I really enjoyed this one. I did the first page above as a sort of “intro” page. Someone added the lovely swirls and butterfly to the page.

My art on the left, Jules on the right.
I must always have a space page.

Vanessa’s page on the left, mine on the right.

and my page on the left with a fun art theme! I also added the Lisa Frank pup to the sign off page on the right.

I love collaborating on art journals like this! I highly encourage you guys to go visit their blogs and see the rest of the zine, because the rest of the pages are amazing!

Might Ancestors – An Art Journal Zine

I’m a member of the Zine Squad, We make collaborative zines for and around people and subjects that inspire us!  I love doing these- It’s fun to have a miniature art journal done in one theme. You can see all the past zines I’ve collaborated on here.

The zine squad (Julia, Vanessa and I) collaborated with Jaimee for this “Mighty Ancestors” zine for our friend Luz.
Vanessa started this zine, then it went from Julia to Jaimee and I received it last to finish it out!

The cover ^

My page on the left. I copied the girl and wolf out of my sketchbook.

This one was a page started by Julia, and I added some of the elements on the right, like the fern girl, and the lettering.

I think the page on the left is by Vanessa, but I added the photo of my great, great grandmother (the 2nd lady, to the right).
The right side of the spread is mine, I stamped all of the little crystals and drew the large one.

You know I need a galaxy page, and I’m so pleased with how this one turned out. The mayan ruins (I ripped them from a NatGeo magazine, I think I remember it saying they were Mayan) are so perfect.

My page to the left and our sign off page to the right.

I love collaborating on art journals like this! I highly encourage you guys to go visit their blogs and see the rest of the zine, because the rest of the pages are amazing!

Tiny Things- An Art Journal Zine

I’m a member of the Zine Squad, We make collaborative zines for and around people and subjects that inspire us!  I love doing these- It’s fun to have a miniature art journal done in one theme. You can see all the past zines I’ve collaborated on here.

The zine squad (Julia, Vanessa and I) collaborated with Sarah for this “Tiny Things” zine for our friend Anika.
Anika loves minimal elements of art and the Tiny things theme is such a cute and cool concept, it seemed perfect for her.

^The cover ^ I think almost everyone contributed to that cover! I added the stenciled fern. 🙂

My pink spread above.

Vanessa’s page on the left, and my doodles on the right.

When I saw Jules white doodle page on the left I knew I had to make a contrasting page next to it, so I did the black page with neon doodles.

I have to have a space page. 🙂

Julia’s amazing lion doodle on the left is so fun. I copied the girl from my sketchbook and added her to the right.

Our sign off page.

The back cover. I added the little hearts.

I love collaborating on art journals like this! I highly encourage you guys to go visit their blogs and see the rest of the zine, because the rest of the pages are amazing!

The zine squad (Julia, Vanessa and I) collaborated with Tanyalee for this “It’s a Small World After All” zine for our friend Sasha.

^ The cover ^

I wrote on the words above and foiled them so they have a shine!

My page on the left, I had so much with high flow acrylics on this page.

My favorite page I did from the zine! The idea of the girl holding the world was inspired by a sketch by one of my favorite artists, Qinni.

I added the paint strokes and the “adventure” quote to the page above.

I got the page above from a National Geographic magazine and I just loved the colors!

I added the little “All the good vibes” tag to the last page above.

I love collaborating on art journals like this! I highly encourage you guys to go visit their blogs and see the rest of the zine, because the rest of the pages are amazing!
